Rebuilding Canada’s Small Business Economy

Turn garages into businesses. Turn neighbours into partners. Turn communities into engines of growth.

A New Model for
Local Manufacturing and Self-Reliance

This site was created as we are a group of concerned Canadians who believe that the current model of government-led job creation is too costly, too centralized, and too disconnected from the realities of everyday communities. Billions of dollars are spent each year attempting to stimulate employment, yet many citizens remain underemployed, dependent, or disconnected from meaningful economic opportunity.

We believe job creation must increasingly be driven by the people, for the people, rooted in neighbourhoods, families, and communities rather than distant programs and bureaucracy. Canadians do not lack talent, skill, or work ethic. What they often lack are the tools, resources, and regulatory flexibility to create their own economic futures.

Garage Shops is built on a simple premise: empower individuals with modest capital, remove unnecessary barriers, and allow communities to generate their own prosperity from the ground up.

As Canadian statesman Preston Manning has often emphasized:

The role of government is not to tell people what they should want, but to listen to citizens and help create the conditions that allow them to achieve what they value.”

Garage Shops reflects that philosophy. Instead of designing large, expensive job programs from the top down, this initiative asks:

What would happen if we trusted Canadians to build their own opportunities?

By providing targeted support to convert garages into compliant small businesses, we enable entrepreneurship at the most local level. We create jobs at a fraction of traditional costs. We strengthen communities. We foster mentorship. And we restore the dignity that comes from building something of your own.

This is not merely a job program.
It is a return to self-reliance, civic responsibility, and grassroots prosperity.

Real Jobs, Real Entrepreneurs, Real Communities

Garage Shops is a targeted job-creation and community-building initiative that empowers residents to turn suburban garages into small, independent businesses. This program enables entrepreneurs to launch local enterprises, such as candle makers, artisan bread bakers, mechanics, craft producers, designers, and more, at a fraction of the cost of traditional government job creation programs.
